Quad Cities All Breed Show August 2009
Dreamin and Abby attended the Quad Cities All breed Show in August 2009. This was the first time for both horses to show and they truly did it in Bit of Heaven style. Showing a calm acceptance of other horses and all the goings on. Both horses were in 4 classes each with both taking home ribbons in one of their classes. Not bad for first time out. Dreamin and I brought home a 2nd place and Nickie and Abby brought home a 3rd.
The Amana Trail Ride
All I can say is that Bit of Heaven Ranch was well represented at the trail
ride in the Amana's the weekend of May 20, 2005 with eight beautiful walking
horses. Most of which were bred here at The Ranch. We all had a great time
enjoying each others company going for long rides, the dance Saturday night,
and especially the FOOD. I think our little group had a good time and are
planning on making this a annual event if not bi-annually with their other
ride in September.
Here are some of the pictures around our campsite including a picture of our
guide Jess on his horse "Paint". He was good natured about having to trot
for five hours to keep up with us at "our" walk. We hope to have him next
year for this event and we will bring along a glide ride for him to enjoy so
he will be able to sit down after the ride. There are also pictures of us
at the dance, with Fay (Robin's mom) trying to learn a line dance.
Hope to see you on the next ride!
Charmed with Carl in his Civil War Uniform
Charmed is enjoying "playing
games" with new owner Rev Carl Fulk. Rev Carl has said that "Charmed
was made for "this" (indicating the re-enactments), she hasn't spooked
at the cannon fire or from me firing a gun off her. She is a real
trooper."
Charmed and Surprise riding in the parade at the Clarence Lincoln
Highway Festival on 7-31-04.
Both girls did great considering it was
their first parade. I rode Charmed, and Nickie, my daughter rode
Surprise. The parade route went right pass the nursing home where I
work and the residents enjoyed seeing "their" nurse riding one of her
horses in the parade.
Dreamer, Dude, and Night Fire took a visit at the Clarence Nursing Home
where I work.
It was a rainy day in June, but most of the residents,
were not deterred, they came outside to visit with the horses. Fun was
had by all, with a promise by me that I would bring the horses back
another day when the weather was nicer.
Surprise at the Jackson County Fair 7-29-04
 Surprise is coming along
nicely under Nickie's directions. She and Nickie had a great day at the
4-H fair in Maquoketa, IA. Surprise unfortunately did not place in any
of her classes (hard to compete against Quarter Horses) this year, but
Nickie and her had lots of fun.
Night Fire at the Jackson County Fair 7-29-04:
This was Night Fires
first show and she did really well for Nickie in the Halter Class for
Ponies 54" or smaller. Night Fire took third place in her class.
Congratulations to both Nickie and Night Fire for a job well done!
Haley with new owner Rev. Ralph Gaines:
Rev. Gaines riding Haley for
the second time and as he says "And loving it!" They both seem to be
getting along real well. Rev. Gaines told me that he hopes to put Haley
in some shows next year because "she is sooo beautiful!"
Congratulations to Rev Gaines on his new purchase and good luck in the
future with her.
